ProCAncer-I will be organising the 3rd Dissemination Event at the 21st IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging, which will be held in Athens, Greece, May 27-30, 2024. ProCAncer-I will organise the Workshop “Integrating imaging Data and AI models for supporting precision care through prostate cancer’s continuum”, discussing and presenting various issues on imaging data and AI modeling in the health sector. Some of the key speakers will be Prof. Manolis Tsiknakis, Dr. Nikolaos Papanikolaou, Prof. Kostas Marias, Prof. Haridimos Kondylakis and Dr. Sara Colantonio.

The ISBI conference series is jointly organized by the IEEE Signal Processing Society and the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, and its top priority is to strengthen the synergy between researchers and experts from academia, healthcare organizations, research institutions, and industry towards advancing research and innovation in the field of biomedical imaging. This year and while ISBI will cover all areas related to medical image computing, it will extend its focus to emerging AI frontiers in biomedical imaging, including interpretability, domain shifts and adaptation, trustworthiness, as well as on issues related to in-silico modelling, virtual twins, precision medicine, and clinical applications.

As the team members say, the ProCAncer-I project aims to develop AI medical image-based models to address unmet clinical needs in the field of Prostate Cancer, where overdiagnosis and overtreatment are due to the lack of robust biomarkers. To achieve this, we created the largest interoperable, high-quality mpMRI (multi-parametric Magnetic Resonance Imaging) dataset worldwide for the study of prostate cancer (PCa). In realizing this objective, the ProCAncer-I repository, called ProstateNet, is envisaged to exceed by at least one order of magnitude current datasets and has enabled the implementation of trustworthy AI modelling that outperform current quantitative MR imaging biomarker- based studies, thus paving the way for AI-assisted prostate cancer care.

AI in PCa imaging : The current status and future perspectives

AI in PCa imaging : The current status and future perspectives

Ιn recent years, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has transformed the prostate cancer (PCa) diagnostic pathway, based on the evidence of multiple high-level evidence studies (refs 4M, MRI first, and PROMIS). Taken together, the evidence indicates that prostate MRI...
